7 Quick Questions
1. If you could only keep one chapter of your book, which chapter would it be, and why?
Chapter 12 – Living The LITSG Life! While the reader would miss out on the wonderful and emotional journey of the book, this last chapter summarizes the key points and helps the reader end with a clear roadmap and action plan for living a happier life. It would however be a real shame to miss the eleven chapters leading up to it.
2. Can you share what inspired you to write “Life Is Too Short Guy,” and how did you come up with the concept for the book?
I have always lived a very positive, high-energy, grateful life. For many years, friends and family encouraged me to become a motivational speaker and I often heard “I wish we could package up your energy and attitude.” The Life Is Too Short Guy is this package for me to share my vision and passion for living a happier life. It is my gift to the world.
An executive coach I was working with during COVID called me “Mr. Life Is Too Short Guy.” When I shared this with my wife, she said, “maybe that is your book.” I didn’t see it at first, but after being together for almost 35 years, she knows how to plant a seed, water it, and watch it germinate. From the seed planted with me, came this wonderful book.
3. What’s the number one trait successful entrepreneurs embody?
Attitude Is Everything. NOTHING is more important for success in business and in life. Successful entrepreneurs have a “can do, get it done” attitude. They take chances and learn from their mistakes. They focus on positivity and gratefulness. So many of the attributes of LITSG directly apply to entrepreneurs and successful business professionals.
4. What’s your go-to process for creating good and lasting habits?
Good and lasting habits are created by being deliberate and thoughtful about how I use my precious minutes. We all have a finite number of minutes and I very specifically and deliberately plan and think about how I use my minutes. To create good and lasting habits, I use a Goals Grid. In my book I talk about how to construct a Goals Grid by listing specific areas of focus (family, business, personal, physical) down the side of the page and a timeline (today, this week, this month, this year) across the top of the page. Each person will determine what is important to fill in the boxes, but the point is to have a plan. We need a roadmap to creating good and lasting habits in all areas of our lives, and the Goals Grid is the tool to map that journey.
5. Looking back, what has been the best part of your entrepreneurial journey?
The best part of my entrepreneurial journey has been the positive impact I have had on those around me. As I pursue my mission to make the world happier one smile at a time, I look for ways to share my positivity and energy with the world. In each of my entrepreneurial endeavors, I seek to have a positive impact on my team, customers, suppliers, and all the other stakeholders in my ecosystem.
6. How do you stay motivated and inspired to live your own life to the fullest, and what advice would you give to others struggling to find motivation?
The core principles of The Life Is Too Short Guy are the foundation of my LITSG philosophy. Each contributes in a meaningful way to helping me live my life to the fullest. Those principles are:
7. Finally, what do you hope readers take away from “Life Is Too Short Guy,” and how do you hope the book will impact their lives?
I hope each reader can embrace the principles of LITSG and take away a few easy tools to live a better, happier, and more fulfilling life. Each person can reflect on the stories I share in the book and have an AHA! moment as they read the book to realize that life is too short, and we only have so many minutes left. Go out today and embrace the day and make the most of your life and the opportunities you have ahead of you. I hope to make the world happier one smile at a time.
