Most of making money and building wealth starts with how you think about life. The millionaire mindset is giving you the frame of mind that a millionaire has. You can have $0 but have the right mindset and be closer to being a millionaire than most people.

The majority of people cannot have this mindset because they are too trapped in boxes of life. They are playing it safe and working hard and getting as much formal education as possible because they have been told will make them successful.

You can take the chosen path that produces results that many people don't like. Or you can change the way you think and develop a mindset that is guaranteed to make you a winner. You can live the life you always wanted to live without thinking twice before you swipe.

“If you want to change the fruits, you will first have to change the roots. If you want to change the visible, you must first change the invisible.”

The Challenge in Developing a Millionaire Mindset

The problem with most lists on developing a millionaire mindset is that they are often shortlisted, making it seem like you only need a few items on the lists. The truth is that its a competitive world and many people would not hate being millionaires.

You need to stand out to reach that milestone. It's not as easy as 1,2,3! You need to have at least 2/3 of the items on this list and be working hard towards the other 10 to have a millionaire mindset.

Some people earn a lot of money without having these, but they often cannot keep it due to deep character flaws. The goal is not just to achieve wealth but to maintain it as well.

Steps 1 - 10 for Developing a Millionaire Mindset

1. Definite Purpose

You have to know what you want. There is no other starting place. This is step one today, and it will always be. You have to get detailed on what you want for your life.

If you don't know what you want, how will you know when you arrive? You could drive right by your destination when you don't have a definite purpose.
Millionaires start with massive visions for their lives.

They don't just fall into having money. They don't just get lucky either. They see what they want, and they don't stop until they get exactly that.

2. Self Confidence

Great habits help to build self-confidence. It comes down to you doing what you say you're going to do. If you say you're going to be a millionaire, or you're going to lose weight, and you do it, you gain confidence.

Sadly, most people say they will do things, and then they don't follow through, and this slowly eats away at your confidence. Being a quitter also erodes your self-confidence.

Nothing gets accomplished without having first having self-belief. It would be better to have less skill, and then it would lack confidence.

3. Live Below Your Means and Save

Millionaires who maintain their wealth learn how to live below what they make and save up massive amounts of money. That money that gets saved opens the door to different investments and opportunities. Don't underestimate the importance of this step.

4. Focus On Increasing Income

The middle-class rarely focus on massively doing this. You may get your annual 4% raise or switch jobs and get a 10% jump in salary. Millionaires think about how they can increase their pay by 300%.

Many of the problems people have come from not being able to save but also not making enough money. The reason you're broke is not that you got that coffee from Starbucks. You need to make enough money so that your daily coffee is splurge is irrelevant.

5. Initiative and Leadership

You will not find a millionaire that has not mastered these two areas. One needs to take the initiative because no one is going to do anything on this list for you. No one will hand you anything, and you're going to have to work for every inch of it.

When you take that initiative, it will attract other people to what you're doing, and you're going to need to lead them to the promised land. Leadership is more than just telling people what to do, but it's setting the vision and putting the right people in the right spots—and knowing how to listen well.

6. Self Control

You see, wealthy people destroying their lives in the news all of the time and its due to a lack of self control.

  • Sexual assault
  • Child abuse
  • Erratic spending
  • Fraud
  • Greed
  • Crime
  • Making insensitive comments

If you want to maintain your wealth, you are going to need to have self-control. You are never to rich to be humbled. The higher you are, the harder that fall is going to be.

It takes discipline to build a million dollars, but it takes even more to keep it.

7. Provide More Value

Focus on what you can bring to the table. When you are new to developing a millionaire mindset, you may have no skills or valuable assets that people want. You have to find a way to build these assets that you can exchange for money.

8. Have an Attractive Personality

Your journey to wealth will go much smoother if you have an attractive personality. It means that people like to be around you and talk with you.

Having a good personality starts with having genuine enthusiasm. You should be excited about each day of your life and the opportunities you have.

9. The Team Builds The Dream

No one can do it alone. In 1 Corinthians Chapter 12, it talks about Christ's body and how each person in the church is needed to play their role. It compares this to how each body part is essential and how an eye can never do the ear's hearing work.

You have to approach life this way. You have weaknesses and limits, and you can never do everything all on your own. You need to build a team of people who can fill in the gaps for you. Building a good team allows you to focus on the most critical areas.

10. Focus

Where you put your attention is one of your most valuable resources. Think about what a managing glass can do with the sun's rays. It helps them to focus on one spot, and it can set things on fire.

The same is true in your own life. If you focus on the right areas and make sure that you're doing the most critical work every day, you can set a forest on fire.

Steps 11 - 20 for Developing a Millionaire Mindset

11. Adapt Constantly

It is survival of the fittest. You have to adapt and change with the times. Nothing remains the same over time. It's the people who can see change coming and keep adapting with it.

12. The Law of 33%

You need to break the time you spend every amongst these three groups.

  • People doing worse than you
  • People on the same level as you
  • People doing better than you

When you get the law of 33% down it, gets you away from spending all your time around people who are just like you. When you're around people doing worse than you, you can teach and gain perspective.

When you're around people doing better than you, it allows dreaming and learning. You have a much more well-rounded perspective this way.

13. Inward Humility

Some too many people act humble on the outside, but inwardly they are so cocky. You can recognize this when someone is not willing to listen and learn. People don't feel the need to learn because inward, they think they know it all already.

When you have genuine humility, you recognize when others have a wealth of knowledge, and when you should shut up and listen.

14. Patience and Eager at The Same Time

Can you be patient in the long run but eager day today? Successful people are masters at switching this perspective. Each day they move as if it's the last day to work at their dream. But in the long run, they keep their perspective that success is not easy, and it takes time.

If you are only eager, you will burn out and not last over the long haul, but if you are only patient, you will let the days slip by you. You need to be both at the same time and maintain that all of the time.

15. Massive Reader

Leaders are readers, and millionaires almost always have impressive libraries. Reading allows you to learn about anything you want from any person's perspective, whether they are dead or alive.

16. Do What is Hard Now

The millionaire mindset is built on a foundation of vision and discipline. If you want to be disciplined, you need to choose what is hard over what is easy. When you keep selecting the hard things, you get the best payoffs later.

When you see someone with a lot of money, time, and energy, they often choose the hard things years prior. Choosing to eat well, take risks others won't, start to add up to something special.

17. Find Your Talents and Stick

You have to have a patient mindset that is also focused on what things you're good at. For example, if you have been writing for a particular industry for the last 20 years, build on that cumulative knowledge.

Too many people think they can switch to other industries or other skills and believe they can just have all of that cumulative knowledge given to them. It does not work that way, though, so you should avoid starting from scratch.

18. Work Towards a Lifestyle

Figure out the lifestyle and then work backward from it to figure out how to get there. Too many people just get jobs and then get pissed that it does not need to lead to the lifestyle they want.

For example, if you want to travel most of the year and not worry about money, what would you need to do that? You could not have a normal 9-5 and pull that off. Focus on building the lifestyle you want.

19. Match Actions and Goals

If you want to have a millionaire mindset, you need to match what you do each day with the goals you have. If you cannot line this up, you will never be able to get what you want. Continuously look at your goals and days and make sure that you're moving closer to those dreams.

20. Prepare for The Worst but Expect The Best

Anyone can prepare for the best. It takes no preparation at all, and you just need to be optimistic. What's hard is to prepare and have a plan for the worst-case scenario, so you're covered.

As you prepare for the worst of worst to happen, you will gain more confidence in your plans, and it will be easier to be optimistic and expect good things to come your way.

Steps 21 - 30 for Developing a Millionaire Mindset

21. Grind for a Decade

Success often takes ten years. Don't start anything that you're not willing to give a decade. There are no shortcuts on this. If you succeed quicker, good on you, but chances are you need a decade.

22. Listen to People at The Top

Your mindset needs to shift away from listening to what everyone has to stay. Everyone has an opinion, but that does not mean that they have sound advice for you. Seek out people who have had a lot of success in the area you want to succeed.

That doesn't mean that you need to be rude to people you don't think have sound advice. It just means you need to let their words fall on deaf ears. If you believe their advice is good to run it by some other people.

23. Use Emotion and Logic

Too many people shoot down either emotion or logic, but they are both useful. Sometimes you have a logical reason to want to quit, use your feelings to drive past that.

Other times you're emotionally exhausted, and you can use your logic to find reasons to keep going. Emotion and logic can often be blind to each other, but they can be amazing allies.

24. Be  a Problem Solver

People get paid big bucks to solve the problems of others. See yourself as a massive problem solver and nothing else.

25. Always Know The Opportunity Cost

Opportunity cost is all of the other things you could be doing with your time. As you can imagine, at any moment our opportunity cost is huge. Don't just think of it in terms of money, though.

Leaving your family to the side to go and make money may seem like a smart opportunity cost, but you may regret that on your deathbed. The goal is always to use your minutes in the best way possible.

26. Be Persistent

You have to have been tenacious in moving towards your definite purpose. You need to have an attitude that won't allow anything to get in your way

27. Decide What Matters in Life

Layout your priorities. Don't let other people tell you what should matter to you. You decide what matters and what you want for your life.

28. Give More Than You Take

You should always look to inject more back into your community than you take from it. If no one in your community needs, find one where people do need.

There are so many ways that you can give, and it always will feel better to focus on this rather than always trying to take from others. If you're a millionaire, it means you have been given a lot and have a responsibility to help and give.

29. Be Honest Above All

Don't bend on this. Successful people are honest with others, and they tend to be blunt. Stop sugar-coating the truth because it's not helping anyone.

30. Take Risks

Not only do successful people see risk differently, but they are willing to go at risk. For example, many people recognize being an entrepreneur as a risk, but what is risky is hoping that a corporation takes care of you for 45 years.

Instead of relying on corporations to take care of you, you see the risk for what it is and take life into your own hands. There are no rewards in this world without some risk.

Conclusion of The Millionaire Mindset

The millionaire mindset is not a walk in the park. There is a reason that majority of people in the world live paycheck to paycheck. Even as people make more money and have a real shot at wealth, they spend more to keep up with them.

If you want to succeed in a big way, you need to get as many of these steps listed above engrained. They need to be habits and automatic behavior.
