You're in bed, and you love how warm and cozy it is. Your alarm wakes you up, but you want to stay in the warmth, hit snooze and go back to dreamland. Is this the scenario you go through every morning? The key to waking up is getting your feet on the floor. It works for a few reasons. First off to get your feet on the floor means you have to sit up and remove the sheets from keeping you warm. The second reason is that the best way to wake up is to move, and it's hard to move much with your feet in bed. Developing a successful morning routine starts with how you wake up.

The next step to killing your morning is to wake up as you want it. Wake up like every day is Christmas morning. When you have goals that put you on fire, you should feel excited to wake up and get after them. There is no rule that the morning has to be awful and hard.

Focus On Getting Your Feet On The Floor

When you wake up, what do you think about? Do you think about how much you don't want to wake up? That is the wrong way to go, and it will make the grip of your sheets that much tighter. You want to focus your mind on getting your feet on the floor. That is all you should be saying in your head.

The reason is that it's the process that helps you to succeed. The goal is to wake up, but the actual process to do that is to get your feet on the floor. If you can move and get your feet on the floor, it means you can stand up and start walking to start the rest of your day. The second your feet hit the ground, and it's a message to the world that you are up and ready for business.

Breathe and Move

Once you are up, let's face it; you may be a bit tired. You want to move as much as possible here. If you're going to go and do your full workout for the day you can. Here are some excellent options for moving:

  • Jumping Jacks

  • Push-ups

  • Sit-ups

  • High Knees

  • Air boxing

  • Mountain climbers

You also want to do some hard and fast breathes to help wake up. You want to breathe as if you finished running a 400m dash and you have no breathe left. The combination of breathing and moving will wake you up every time. Then you can start your routine like brushing teeth or having a cup of coffee.

Add Energy To Your Day With a Successful Morning Routine

Energy is a weird thing. You have to give the power to get it back a lot of the time. Do you think you could be alert but if you lie and the couch and do nothing, before you know it you will be sleeping. In contrast, have you ever seen an NBA player fall asleep on the court? When you are moving and giving energy, it gives you that energy back.

If you want to add energy to your morning or your day you have to give it first. That is why the recommendation is breathing and moving.  You may feel your self go into a late morning slump. The same logic will apply. If you are sitting at your desk not giving any mental or physical energy to anything, that tired bug will creep in. You have to get up and move a bit!

Nothing Gets Accomplished Until You Get The Feet On the Floor

When it comes to waking up, you have to remember that you can't do anything until you get your feet on the floor. You have 24 hours in a day. That is the same 24 hours that everyone else has. What it comes down to is what you do with your 24 hours. You deserve and need sleep, but you don't earn any more than you set out to get. Be the type of person that does what you say you are going to do.

When your feet are up, and you are in dreamland, your body is recovering, and that's important. Dreams come alive when you wake up and start going to work though. You increase your chances of not hitting snooze and falling back to sleep if you have your feet on the floor.

Pop Up With Confidence

The next step to killing your morning is to wake up as you want it. Wake up like every day is Christmas morning. When you have goals that put you on fire, you should feel excited to wake up and get after them. There is no rule that the morning has to be awful and hard.

There is no better feeling than throwing the sheets away and putting your feet on the floor and walking away from your bed like you were not even sleeping. Smile as you walk away from the bed too! Start your day with confidence that you own the day.

Get Up And Get After It

When you wake up early and get after it, you set the tone for the rest of the day. Moving first thing in the morning will give you the energy and confidence you need.  You will get forced right into the mindset of success and productivity.  The discipline that you will gain from getting up early will only spill over into the rest of your life.
