Stop Selling Your Time So Cheap

One of the big problems with school and work is that it almost is guaranteed to push us down a road of selling our time cheaply. Before you get mad at me to attack your job, I want you to think about this for a second. You get one life to live. There are no re-dos in life. You can get money back but not one person has ever been able to get their time back. Once it’s spent its gone and that makes it so valuable. Yet we sell it and give it away like it means nothing. If an alien came to planet earth they would assume most of us think we will live forever the way we waste time.

If I came to you and I said that your life is only worth $100 dollars you would be appalled and you should be. Yet

most people will sell their life away for less than $100 dollars an hour. Now I know what you’re thinking, $100 an hour is different than your whole life right? Here is the issue. You don’t know when life itself will be over. Since you don’t know you can only judge value off of the moment. If you are working for $100 bucks an hour and you die in that hour you lost your life for that value at that moment.

Do What You Need to Do But Have a Master Plan

Most people sell their time away for much less than $100 dollars an hour. It’s done in the name of “I got bills to pay.” I get it! If that is what you feel you need to do then handle your business. But be aware of what you are doing. You are trading your most valuable possession away. Not money, not cars or your house but your very life.

If you have kids you are showing them and sending them to school to eventually do the thing Your justification is that everyone else is doing it. You follow the crowd because it’s easy to assume that if the majority is doing it then they must all be right. Sometimes the majority is no right or wrong, they are simply just not thinking for themselves.

Increase Your Value

Focus on how you can increase your value in the market place. The reason why you need to be a learning machine is for this reason right here. I get it if you make $10/hour its because that is the value you bring to the market place. If you get paid $50k a year the answer is the same. You need to increase your value in the market place.

The reason people rush off to colleges every year is because we have been told that it increases your value in the market place. The same is true for getting your masters and so on and so forth. That is just one way to increase your value.

There are other ways to go about doing this. One of the most underrated is to become an expert on something. When you are an expert with deep knowledge you can always find a way to get paid and you don’t always need to go to school for it. I decided to gain deep knowledge of habits and build tools and courses around that. There are not a lot of people that can help you with habits but even more specifically that knows a lot about Habit Stacking. You can do this same thing by becoming an expert with deep knowledge on a specific topic.

Separate Time From Money

Everything I am talking about is leading to this one thing. You need to separate your time from your money. The majority have been brainwashed to believe that they are the same thing. If you want money you need to go somewhere and spend your time there and they will give you money for that time. Here is the issue, money is infinite but time is NOT.

People who become wealthy rarely do so just working with their salary from a job. There is nothing wrong with having a job that you love and you feel makes a difference. Where the problems arise is when you are doing something you hate or when you don’t understand that you don’t have to trade time for money.

My Whole Life Changed This Day

I used to run my own clothing line with my brother. One night we released our most popular shirt at and then I went to bed early because I had practice in the morning. I woke up the next morning at about $300 more than when I went to sleep. I made money when I was sleeping and it hit me that day that you don’t have to trade time for money.

After that, I was hooked. I still had to work Jobs but I realized that I could keep building assets that would make me money regardless of what I was doing. They would require a lot of work up front but after that, they could sell without me having to do a lot of work.

Created an app

 A membership site that teaches you how to build group homes

All these things pay me bit by bit each month but I can make money from them anytime. The internet is a 24/7 ordeal. It never stops but as humans, we have to stop. When you adopt this way of making money it means you can make money anywhere and anytime and that should sound great.

Manage Your Time Like It Matters

Time management will get more important to you. Wealthy people don’t waste time because they realize how valuable it is. They start spending their time doing things that matter. I track all of my habits each day because I want to spend my days doing the things that will make a difference. Managing your time really breaks down into three areas.

1. Manage Your Time
2. Increasing Your Energy
3. Narrowing Your Focus

When you think about being excellent with your time you need all of these things. When you have a crappy job you have none of these things. You get overworked and feel drained and have a limited vacation policy. You just enough to survive but never enough to thrive. You feel unfocused because you wish you were doing other things sand you trade your time for the money.

When you look at being productive and making the most of your life as being a three-headed monster you get a more holistic picture of what needs to be done. If you are able to make money when you sleep you have a great chance of having success in all three areas.

You can be free with your time. You are not stuck to a desk or a place. You can increase your energy because you can afford the foods that keep you healthy and you can work out when you want. You feel better about life because you control your time. You feel focused because you know what you are passionate about and what is bringing you success.

Your time is not cheap

I’m not saying any of this comes easy. To live this life of productivity without having time and money attached will be hard. It’s hard because everyone would like to live this way. It will require a lot of upfront work with no pay. You will look stupid and people will laugh at you. But you have to stay on the path. Stay focused on where you want to be and not where you are.
