What is The Foundation For Your Life?

Everyone has a foundation that comes from somewhere. It's how you make tough choices and what you do to guide your life. It's not enough to say that you try and be the right person. What is a good person?

As a, for example, the foundation that guides my life is The Holy Bible. The Word of God is what I used to decide what is good what is terrible and how I should live my life. It's that book that I go to when I have tough choices.

You have to know what your foundation consists of. You will need to go back to it time and time again to find your path. If your journey conflicts with your core values, you must question your direction.

Decide What Your Victory Road Is

You need to be definitive in what you want from life. People who go on to do significant things do not do so without deciding first. It does not matter if you are talking about Martin Luther King Jr or Oprah Winfrey. All the greats made a decision that they were going to go after something.

Knowing what makes your foundation is essential. It will change what you decide you want. Specific values don't fit with some life pursuits. No matter how hard you work or what you do, you will never succeed because there is no harmony.

When you decide what you want in life, it does not mean it will drop in your lap the next day. Deciding gives you direction, and allows you to start making choices in line with that thing you want.

When I was in high school, I decided I wanted to get a scholarship to the United States. As a young Canadian boy, it was a weird, unrealistic goal to most of my teachers. Once I decided though, I build my entire life around that decision. I never skipped track practice, I ate much healthier, I stayed hydrated, I studied my races, and I got the grades I need to. I did all this because I KNEW each of these choices would help me reach my ultimate goal.

When people don't decide or have a purpose, they drift through life. You begin to accept anything life throws at you because you don't know what will help or hurt you. It won't matter who you date, what grades you get, or what jobs you do because you don't know what you want from it all anyway.

Change Your Identity to Match Your Victory Road

Once you decide what you want, you will feel the temptation to start grinding. Don't do this! You are missing the crucial step of changing your identity first. Most people set their eyes on a goal and focus only on that outcome. For example, if you want to lose weight, the average person would focus on the importance they want to be.

The above average person would focus on the process that produces an outcome. People who do this know that action is what will create the desired result. Instead of thinking of weight loss, they think about running or how they will lose weight. Instead of focusing on how to be more likable, you focus on being nice to everyone you come in contact with.

The person who goes on to change their habits focuses on their identity first. If you want to lose weight, but you see yourself as a fat person, you will always struggle with your weight. If you're going to get better grades, but you identify as being a dummy, you will not get there.

The proper steps to working towards any goal:

Change identity to match the person you need to be

Develop habits that will get you there

Get the desired outcome you seek

Set Your Habits

Once you change your identity, it is time to take the right action. You will never achieve an outcome until you change something you do daily. If you have the habits of a healthy person, you will become one. It's that simple!

When thinking of what habits to choose, you need to think of what daily actions will move you towards your goals. Daily habits are vital because they consist of small tiny victories. Most see small victories as a waste of time.

Track your habits using Habit Stacker. All you have to decide what things you think will change your life and enter them into the habit. You will be able to add accountability partners to each habit to ensure that you get things done. If they see you sliding off the path to your victory road, they can nudge you back on track.

Tracking your habits will stop you from being able to lie to yourself. Most people overestimate how good their behavior is. Tracking your habits gives you an accurate picture of your actions.

Start Walking to Victory Road

The mistake that a lot of people make when deciding they want to make a change is trying to do much at once. If you're going to run a marathon, but you have not moved in 10 years, start walking for 5 minutes.

Once walking becomes comfortable with walking, you can begin to walk a bit faster, add a few minutes. When you do things like this, you can ease yourself into our new lifestyle. When you dive into something at a pace that you cannot maintain, you increase your chan es of giving up.

Start your habits at a pace that is so tiny that there is no way you can fail.

Walk 2 minutes a day

Do one push up a day

Drink one glass of water

Huge my wife for 5 seconds a day

Wake up 10 minutes earlier

Read one page a day

Pick Up The Pace

Once you get in the flow with your tiny habits, you can start increasing them into more extensive habits. You should not do this until you have locked in the small habits. You should be able to hit your habit seven days in a row at least before you start making it a bit harder.

When you do this right, you will challenge yourself. There will not be too much challenge as that can lead to giving up. You will get to a point where habit change is sticking. At this point, you can start jumping into new habits.

Walk 60 minutes a day

Do 100 push-ups a day

Drink ten glasses of water

Huge my wife for 60 seconds a day

Wake up 60 minutes earlier earlier

Read 20 pages a day

The Outcome = Victory Road

There is beauty in hand selecting your habits. If you choose the right ones, you increase your chances of success. Focusing on goals cannot do this. It's still important to review your goals because they give you direction. Goals remind you why you are adopting these new habits.

The process will never do you wrong! You will not plant pumpkins and get strawberries. The best thing you can do is figure out the habits with the most impact based on your goals. When you find them duplicate them daily and make sure you stay consistent. If you want to know how to be more likable, finding your path will help you.
